It was a thrilling night of music, dance and rave reviews as the excitement grew to a fever pitch over at Dream Studio. Nigerian Idol, the most exhilarating television show to hit the airwaves in Nigeria was preparing to name its number one singer, after the final two competitors went toe-to-toe, singing for the tempting $100,000 prize and the pride of being called THE Nigerian Idol season three winner. The elimination of Safeeyat from the top three left Moses Obi-Adigwe from Benin and Debbie Olu-Rise from Kogi State as the final two contestants. With R & B singer Banky W adding his superstar wattage to the affair, it was a night to remember at Dream Studio as the finalists made their mark and left nothing to chance with their stellar performances.
Looking at the contestants at the final stage of the Nigerian Idol it's like dejavu all over again. Guy versus girl; plump versus skinny; energy versus finesse. Where have we seen this all before? For all you Idol lovers out there you should remember the epic showdown that was West African Idol, which came down to a battle between the ever delightful and energetic Omawumi Megbele and the restrained yet confident Timi Dakolo. It was a toss-up to see who would win the show but eventually Timi took it all and went on to a solid career after a brief hiatus. Omawumi took second and rocketed into the limelight with her single In the Music scene.
Debbie Rise Throughout the competition Debbie Rise has struggled with stage presence, pitch and form, but on this night, she aimed to put it all behind her as she stepped confidently to the microphone and unleashed her inner diva.
Moses If nothing else, Moses should be named the comeback kid of the show. Brought back into the top 12 after failing to get in through votes, he has ridden all the way to the top two, and made a definite case that he should be the next Nigerian Idol. Banky W told Moses after his first song that, "I almost forgot that Cee-Lo wrote that song. It felt that you wrote and produced it." Moses dominated with that track, picking the perfect song that showcased his voice.
With the finals just concluded and Moses Grabbing the grand prize and first place leaving Debbie with the second spot she kept a strong spirit as she immediately twitted
"We win some and we lose some... My warm congratulations goes to @moses_obiNI3 as he edge pass me to win the @Nigerianidol S3 cheers!"
It is worthy to note that Debbie Ebun Rise is a graduate of the federal University of Technology Yola (Now MAUTECH)
We are prod of both winners and wish them great success.
I am so happy she has a strong spirit. Go Team Debbie!!!!
